Mr. Barnard’s marriage was typical of the many brief, early marriages that end in divorce by age 30, with no children and little more joint property than wedding gifts and a stereo.
stormy relationship — бурные отношения, т.е. с частыми ссорами и скандалами: I would say that we have had a very stormy, passionate, and productive 15 year affair.
to take a fancy to smb — начать симпатизировать кому-то: John began to take a fancy to Sally late last August at the picnic.
to fall for — влюбиться: He fell for Jane as soon as he saw her. It was love at first sight.
third wheel — третий лишний, то есть пара + еще кто-то: Well, if you are bringing your girlfriend, I’ll have to take my cousin with me, don’t wanna be the third wheel.
to two-timе — изменять (син. to have an affair): The only place in the world where women overtake men in affairs is France, where 87% of women admit that they used to two-time a partner, either in a current or past relationship.

a rebound guy/girl — человек, с которым заводятся отношения только чтобы отвлечься после того, как тебя бросили. С таким названием пару лет назад вышел фильм с Кэтрин Зетой-Джонс!

a booty call (амер. сленг) — приглашение на свидание, когда обе стороны с самого начала понимают, чем все закончится (услышано в Sex and the City): Stefan flying from Düsseldorf to visit me in Vancouver was, to my knowledge, history’s greatest booty call.
to go on a blind date — пойти на свидание с незнакомым человеком: blind dates are sometimes good, usually bad, and always weird at the beginning.
to bicker — пререкаться, спорить: How can they still together?! They are bickering all the time!
to infatuate — свести с ума, внушить сильную страсть
