* Amistad (название улицы, хоть это слово и переводится с испанского, не думаю, что надо переводить названия улиц, тем более в американской песне и с испанского)
*where the West was all but won — здесь явно видна отсылка к фильму 1962 года How the West was won о покорении Дикого Запада. Фраза из песни вероятнее всего означает, что герои (автору) песни почти удалось что-то сделать, но все-таки в итоге ничего не получилось
*to fall apart — букв. разваливаться на части, рушиться. Очень ходовое выражение!
*как-то я уже писала о том, что never — это не только «никогда», но также еще и «так и не».

И согласитесь, довольно странно было бы перевести «он никогда не звонил»…
Также и в нашей песне. Поется ведь о том, что Бог нашел героя слишком поздно, поэтому предложения
